Wernstein am Inn


Wernstein am Inn, Upper Austria, municipality in the district of Steyr-Land, alt. 313 m, pop. 1,720, area 16.50 km2, on the River Inn north of Schärding and opposite Neuburg Castle (Bavaria). - Late Gothic parish church with extensions (1966/67), altar area designed by K. Prantl, larger-than-life crucifix (15th century); Virgin column (1647, in Wernstein am Inn since 1667); castle ruins (16th /17th century); house of A. Kubin in Zwickledt, where the artist lived during most of his life.
