Welzenbacher, Lois (Alois Johann), b. Munich (Germany), Jan. 20, 1889, d. Absam (Tyrol), Aug. 13, 1955. Architect. Bricklayer's apprentice, then Trade School in Vienna, from 1907 in Munich as draughtsman in architectural studios. 1912/13 at the College of Technology in Munich. 1919-1932 studio in Innsbruck, 1922/23 teacher at the State School of Arts and Crafts Innsbruck; 1929 director of urban building in Plauen, from 1931 studio in Munich. 1939-1942 architectural consultant of the aircraft works in Halle an der Saale, from 1947 professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.


Works: House Mimi Settari, Bad Dreikirchen, South Tyrol, 1922/23; Adambräu, Innsbruck, 1926 and 1931; administrative building of the Städt. Elektrizitätswerk Innsbruck, 1926/27; house Treichl, Innsbruck 1929-1931 (destroyed); house Rosenbauer, Linz, 1929-1930; house at Lake Zellersee; Turmhotel Seeber, Hall in Tyrol, 1930-1931; Ehlert Orphanage, Hindelang, Allgäu, 1931-1933; house Heyrovsky, Zell am See, 1932.
