Weiß, Karl Pseudonym: Karl Struve, * 1826© Copyright Karl Weiss, photo, 1880 Weiß, Karl (pseudonym: Karl Struve), b. Vienna, Feb. 13, 1826, d. Vienna, Dec. 23, 1895. Archivist and librarian. Founder and 1st director of the Vienna City Library (1855), of the City Archives (1863) and of the Historical Museum (1888); 1874 Director of Archives and Libraries. Brought the objects of the Burghers' Armory into the custody of museums, participated in organising the triumphal procession 1879, reserved a separate area of the Central Cemetery for personalities of outstanding merit and was partly responsible for the ornamental designs for the Vienna Town Hall.
