Wallern im Burgenland


Wallern im Burgenland, Burgenland, municipality in the district of Neusiedl am See, alt. 120 m, pop. 1,978, area 33.87 km2, located in the Seewinkel area; together with Andau and Apetlon one of the lowest-lying municipalities in Austria. - Finds of Roman coins, first documented mention 1269; laid out in accordance with the pattern of Roman colonial settlements; Catholic parish church (extensions 1761, alterations 1931); bell tower (re-built in 1784) on the village green; Trinity column (1702).
