VerkehrsverbündeTransport Associations (Verkehrsverbünde), associations of several transport companies in a region in order to standardise tariff and ticket systems, harmonise timetables and improve customer appeal. Another aim is transparent earnings distribution according to performance. The largest such enterprise in Austria is the "Verkehrsverbund Ostregion" (VOR, founded in 1984), based on co-operation between the provinces of Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland. It comprises ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways), Wiener Verkehrsbetriebe (Vienna Transport Association), Lokalbahn Wien- Baden (local railway), and a number of regional buses. The following transport associations were established between 1985 and 1995: Salzburger Verkehrsverbund (SVV), Grazer Tarifverbund (GTV), Innsbrucker Verkehrsverbund (IVV), Verkehrsverbund Oberösterreich (VVBO), Tarifverbund Vorarlberg, Verkehrsverbund Großraum Graz, Verkehrsverbund Kärnten, Verkehrsverbund Tirol (VVT).
