Trenck, Baron Franz of, b. Reggio di Calabria (Italy), Jan. 1, 1711, d. Brno, Czech Republic (then Brünn), Oct. 4, 1749, commander of the Pandour corps (Croatian borderguard). Was sentenced to death in 1746 due to the atrocities committed by his troops and embezzlement during the Austrian Succession, War of the . He was then pardoned and encarcerated at the Spielberg.
