Studied economics at the University of Vienna; from 1977 to 1983 in different European and American branch offices of Chase Manhattan Bank; from 1983 to 1986 division manager in Erste österreichische Spar-Casse bank, from 1986 to 1993 chairman of the managing board of Chase Manhattan Bank Austria, from 1994 to 1997 chairman of the managing board of Erste österreichische Spar-Casse, since 1997 CEO of Erste Bank der oesterreichischen Sparkassen AG.
