University professor in Vienna and New York with outstanding merits in aesthetics and art history, conservation of monuments and museology in Austria (restructured the Viennese museums after 1918); emigrated to the USA in 1938. He wrote many of his numerous publications with his wife, the art historian Erika T-Conrat (1883-1957). Works: 12 Bände Ö. Kunsttopographie, 1907-1931; Die Methode der Kunstgeschichte, 1913; Krit.
