Swoboda, HannesSwoboda, Hannes, b. Bad Deutsch-Altenburg (Lower Austria), Nov. 10, 1946, law graduate, politician (Austrian Social Democratic Party, SPÖ). From 1972 in the Vienna Chamber of Labour, 1983-1988 member of the Vienna Landtag and the Vienna City Council (from 1986 leader of the SPÖ parliamentary group), from 1988-1996 municipal councillor for town planning in the Vienna provincial government, since 1996 member of the European Parliament and head of the SPÖ delegation.
