Stöber, Franz© Copyright Franz Stöber, self-portrait, 1830 Stöber, Franz, b. Vienna, 1760, d. Speyer, (Germany) Oct. 4, 1834, landscape and architectural painter, goldsmith. Studied at the Vienna Academy under J. C. Brand, travelled to Switzerland and the Netherlands. From 1786 worked for P. F. C. von Hutten, dean of the cathedral chapter in Speyer, the gallery of which he directed; on the dean´s behalf he painted pictures of the buildings that had been destroyed during the French occupation.
