Association of Austrian Cities and Towns, founded in 1915, continued until 1938, started again in 1945. Its members are cities and towns as opposed to smaller communities, which form the "Association of Austrian Municipalities"). The Association of Austrian Cities and Towns represents the interests of Austrian cities and towns in the system of revenue-sharing and supports efforts to promote local progress in economic, social and cultural fields with committees and meetings. Its deliberative organ is the annual Städtetag, its legal domicile is Vienna; it is presided over by the mayor of Vienna. "Österreichische Gemeindezeitung" magazine.
