Prague (Czech Republic), April 4, 1909, actor; in Graz 1854, then in Königsberg; from 1856 at the Vienna Burgtheater (1859 court actor, from 1877 employment for life); director from 1870, senior director from 1884, 1887/88 and 1889/90 provisional managing director of the Burgtheater; famous for his portrayal of heroes and character parts, excellent in light comedies, idol of the public of his time, guest performances in the USA.
