Sigmund Franz, Archduke of Austria, b. Innsbruck, Nov. 27, 1630, d. Innsbruck, June 25, 1665. Second son of Leopold V and Claudia von Medici. Became bishop of Augsburg without consecration in 1646, bishop of Gurk in 1653 and bishop of Trento in 1659; after the death of his brother Ferdinand Karl sovereign of the Tyrol; renounced all ecclesiastical posts in 1665 and contemplated marriage but died beforehand. He was the last male issue of the Tyrolean line of Leopold V.
