ShihShih, b. Taipeh (Republic of China), Nov. 29, 1950, composer. Studied music and ballet in Taipeh, came to Vienna to study composition with T.C. David and harp with M. Müller at the Vienna University of Music from 1974 to 1983; has lived in Vienna since that time and has acquired Austrian citizenship. Opposes a formalist approach to composition and mainly concerned with the expression of mental processes. Works: Die Nacht vom 15. August, 1983 (symphony); Vatermord, 1994 (chamber opera); Lebend´ges Land, 1997 (oratorio). - Lieder; chamber and orchestral music.
