Seyringer, NikolausSeyringer, Nikolaus, b. Matzen (Lower Austria), around 1360, d. Vienna, Dec. 25, 1425. Theologian. 1401 rector of the University of Vienna, abbot of Subiaco (1412), abbot of Melk (1418). Wrote the "Melker Observanz" and reformed among others the Lower Austrian Benedictine monasteries of Kleinmariazell and Seitenstetten as well as Kremsmünster, Lambach, Garsten and Gleink (all Upper Austria) and the Monastery of the Scottish Benedictines in Vienna. With prior Petrus von Rosenheim he made Melk the centre of reforms in Austrian monasteries.
