Seyfried, Ignaz Ritter* von, b. Vienna, Aug. 15, 1776, d. Vienna, Aug. 27, 1841. Composer, conductor, teacher, musicographer. One of the most successful composers for the theatre of the early 19th century in Vienna; pupil of W. A. Mozart, J. G. Albrechtsberger, L. A. Kozeluch and P. Winter; was a friend of L. van Beethoven and directed the premiere of the latter´s opera "Fidelio".
