Sebestyén, György


Sebestyén, György, b. Budapest (Hungary), Oct. 30, 1930, d. Vienna, June 6, 1990. Author of scripts and radio plays. Studied ethnology in Budapest, took part in the Hungarian Revolution in 1956, escaped to Vienna, became an Austrian citizen in 1963, was President of the Austrian P. E. N. Club from 1988-1990. S. aimed at improving the understanding between East and West with his cultural work and stimulated discussion of the identity of Central Europe. Published the magazine "Pannonia" and founded the publication "Morgen".


Works: Novels: Der Mann im Sattel oder Ein langer Sonntag, 1961; Die Schule der Verführung, 1964; Albino, 1984; Die Werke der Einsamkeit, 1986. - Narrative works and travelogues.
