Politician (pan-German Landbund, after 1945 Austrian People's Party, ÖVP). 1904-1911 director of the Agricultural College in Völkermarkt; 1918-1920 leader of the Kärntner Heimatdienst, 1918-1938 member of the provincial parliament, 1919 member of the Austrian delegation to the negotiations on the Treaty of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, 1923-1927 Provincial Governor of Carinthia, 1924-1931 Austrian Head of the Landbund, from May to September 1929 Vice-Chancellor, 1929-1930 and 1933 Minister of the Interior, 1932-1938 Provincial Inspector of Stockbreeding for Carinthia, President of the Carinthian chamber of agriculture and legal counsel of the farmer's cooperatives of Carinthia; 1945 Staatssekretär of Protection of Wealth and Economic Planning, 1945-1949 Member of the Nationalrat and Vice-President of the Austrian Farmers' Association. 1945-1962 chairman of the Raiffeisenverband.
