Schrötter, Leopold© Copyright Leopold Schrötter, photo 1884 Schrötter, Leopold, b. Graz (Styria), Feb. 5, 1837, d. Vienna, April 22, 1908. Physician. Pioneer of laryngology; founded the University Hospital department of Laryngology in Vienna in 1870, created the first chair of laryngology, developed the climatological treatment of tuberculosis in closed institutions and for this purpose founded the Alland pulmonological sanatorium in 1896. Publications: Vorlesungen über die Krankheiten des Kehlkopfes, 1887; Vorlesungen über die Krankheiten der Luftröhre, 1896; Erkrankungen der Gefäße, 1902; Hygiene der Lunge, 1903. Literature: ÖBL.
