Schokotnigg, MarxSchokotnigg, Marx, baptized at Gornij Grad, Slovenia (then Oberburg), April 15, 1661, buried at St. Peter near Graz (Styria), Sept. 24, 1731, baroque sculptor; father of Josef Schokotnigg. Studied in Rome for 9 years, settled in Graz in 1692. Works: Statues on the balustrades of Admont monastery, sculptures in Graz Cathedral; pulpit in the Andräkirche, altar sculptures in the Franciscan Church, Leonhardkirche, in the old Ursulinenkirche and in the mausoleum of Ferdinand II (all in Graz); in the churches of Mariatrost, St. Marein near Graz, St. Andrä im Sausal, Pöllau, Pöllauberg and Votsberg; Lady column of Murau (all in Styria).
