SchöcklSchöckl Mountain, Styria, 1,445 m, local mountain of Graz, located north of the city in the Graz hill country, consists of mica schist and folded Palaeozoic limestone ("Schöckl limestone"). Schöcklseilbahn (cable car) from St. Radegund bei Graz. Skiing region, slope used by gliders, affords a good view of the area, television transmitter. Stubenberghaus mountain refuge, Alpengasthof inn. Stöckl memorial; remains of Roman settlements, roads and fortifications. Continues as the Nieder-Schöckl mountain (1,289 m) in a south-westerly direction. Landscape protection area and water protection zone.
