Schloffer, Hermann Schlögl, Friedrich

Schlögener Schlinge

Schlögen Oxbow, Upper Austria, 2 U-turns of the River Danube between Wesenufer and Obermühl an der Donau; named after the village of Schlögen (288 m, remains of a small Roman fort, evidence of Roman port) on the right bank of the River Danube; popular destination for day-trips. In the Schlögen Oxbow the course of the river changes in two U-turns from south-east to north-west/north. Haichenbach ruins and the small castle Kerschbaumer Schlößl are located at the first turn. Haibach ob der Donau (alt. 528 m) lies at the Schlögen Oxbow on the right bank of the River Danube, Obermühl an der Donau (alt. 284 m), Untermühl (alt. 288 m) and Oberlandshaag (alt. 275 m) on the left bank.

Literature: W. Dettelbacher, Salzburg, Salzkammergut, Oberösterreich, 1978.
