Patriotic poet. 1794 office clerk in Velm, 1814 administrator and district commissioner of the Upper Austrian state domain Sierning, 1829 administrator of the imperial salt-works domain Ort am Traunsee. Awarded title of "wirklicher Bergrat" in 1837. Wrote ballads, nature poems, epigrams, songs, fables and instructive poetry; friends included Anastasius Grün, E. von Bauernfeld and N. Lenau.
