Vienna, Sept. 17, 1967, ethnologist, explorer, exponent of the theory of culture circles. 1912-1916 missionary in Mozambique. One of the first to systematically explore the Pygmy tribes on 6 expeditions 1924-1955 (Congo, Philippines, Malay Peninsula).
