Samnaun Mountains, Tirol, high mountain range of the Central Alps between River Inn and River Trisanna, separated from the Silvretta Mountains by the Fimbertal Valley and Fimberbach stream. The border between Austria and Switzerland runs across its southwestern part; the mountains Hexenkopf (alt. 3,035 m) and Furgler (alt. 3,004 m) are on Tirolian territory. Many lakes, including the Spinnsee Lakes, Lake Furglersee, Lake Gmairersee, Lake Tieftalsee. Very well developed skiing area, mountain railways around Fiss, Serfaus and Ischgl. Mountain refuges: Hexenseehütte (alt. 2,576 m), Ascher Hütte (alt. 2,256 m).
