Salzburger SchieferalpenSalzburg Schist Alps, also Dienten Mountains, term for southern lime stocks of the Salzburg Limestone Alps and the region north of the River Salzach and Wagrain, characterised by roundish shapes, meadows and Alpine pastures ("grass mountains"). Highest mountain: Hundstein Mountain (2,117 m). In the north they are composed of Werfen Strata of the Lower Triassic Period, in the south of Palaeozoic schist of the greywacke zone; copper deposits in Mitterberg Valley and deposits of magnesite and graphite.
