Vienna, March 16, 1922, landscape painter, son of painter Franz R. the Elder and brother of Franz R. the Younger; studied at the Vienna Academy. Pupil of A. Zimmermann, acquainted with E. J. Schindler, R. Ribarz and E. Jettel. Travelled to Italy, Holland, Belgium and Germany, his early works show a distinct similarity with the sentimental paintings of E. J. Schindler; later his style of painting reveals a restless, flickering delicacy. Painted numerous decorative landscapes for the Vienna Burgtheater and the Museum of Natural History.
