Röthis


Röthis, Vorarlberg, municipality in the district of Feldkirch, alt. 508 m, pop. 1,933, area 2.72 km2. There are small and medium-sized businesses and industries located on the eastern edge on the Rhine Valley between Rankweil and Götzis; Röthis is one of the two municipalities in Vorarlberg with vineyards, the other being the municipality of Klaus. - Construction materials plant, quarry, small and medium-sized building companies; many SMEs; tourism (9,322 overnight stays). First documented mention in 842 as "Rautena", Röthis has belonged to Austria since 1390. - Parish church (first documented mention in 882, rebuilt in 1476) with a Gothic choir, north tower and tabernacle; "Röthner Schlößchen" estate (16th century).
