Rohrau, Lower Austria, market town in the district of Bruck an der Leitha, alt. 148 m, pop. 1,224, area 20.48 km2, on River Leitha, north-east of Bruck an der Leitha near the border with the province of Burgenland. - Gothic parish church, redecorated in Baroque style (14th century) with Late Gothic choir, high altar (mid-18th century); cemetery chapel; Crucifixion group (18th century); palace (documented mention in 1230), former moated castle (16th century), rectangular building dating from the second half of the 17th century, façades dating from the late 18th century, partly Empire-style interior, picture gallery of the Harrach family (biggest private collection in Austria, in Vienna until 1969). Haydn museum in the house where the composer was born.
