From 1987 in the press service of FPÖ; 1991-98 member of the Bundesrat, 1995-96 member of the European Parliament, 1999 member of the Provincial Diet of Tirol, 1999-2000 member of the Nationalrat; since 2000 chairperson of the Freiheitliche Partei Österreichs, at the same time Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister for Public Services and Sport.
