Riehl, Josef, b. Bozen/Bolzano (South Tyrol), Aug. 31, 1842, d. Innsbruck (Tyrol), Dec. 17, 1917, construction engineer; brother of Alois Adolf Riehl. Planned and initiated hydro-electric power stations and road and railway construction in Tyrol and in Vorarlberg; one of his achievements was Austria´s first electrical standard-gauge railway, the Mittenwaldbahn (1910-1913).
