Riccabona, Max eigentlich M. von Riccabona zu Reichenfels


Riccabona, Max (real name: M. von R. zu Reichenfels), b. Feldkirch (Vorarlberg), March 31, 1915, d. Lochau (Vorarlberg), Oct. 4, 1997, lawyer and writer. Author of experimental prose and poetry. Studied law. Studied in Graz and Innsbruck, 1936-1938 at the Consular Academy in Vienna, participated in the organization of the resistance in France, 1942-1945 interned at Dachau concentration camp. From 1945 chairman of the "Austrian Democratic Freedom Movement" ("Ö.-demokrat. Freiheitsbewegung") in Vorarlberg. Numerous publications in periodicals and anthologies; regarded as the doyen of Austrian avant-garde literature. From 1957 worked on an experimental novel, of which only excerpts have been published ("Bauelemente zur Tragikomödie des x-fachen Dr. von Halbgreyffer oder Protokolle einer progressivsten Halbbildungsinfektion", 1980).
