Berlin (Germany), April 3, 1892, acrobat, circus director. trained as a tight-rope walker and travelled through Germany; in 1842 established his own company; 1854 opening performance at a permanent location in Vienna´s 3rd district ("Zirkus R.", chiefly animal acts and spectacular acts, 1883 structural alterations by O. Laske sr.). 1897/98 "Zirkus Renz" closed down. the building was then occasionally used for variety shows until its destruction in 1944. Literature: G.
