Rektorenkonferenz, ÖsterreichischeRektorenkonferenz, Österreichische (Austrian Conference of University Rectors), set up in 1911 after the model of Germany, received legal status in 1955; its main task is to draw up reports on all aspects of universities and institutions of higher learning and to make recommendations and comment on relevant bills. Members of the Rektorenkonferenz are the rectors and vice-rectors of the universities and the chairpersons of the senates and of the representative university bodies. Literature: W.
