Rast & Gasser


Rast & Gasser, one of the oldest and most significant Austrian sewing machine manufacturers, established in 1868 by August Rast (1846-1922) in Vienna; its name was changed to Rast & Gasser when Michael Gasser joined in 1877; in 1898 the company began production of the army revolvers "M-98"; after 1922 Rast's sons August Rast Jr. (d. 1936) and Josef Rast (d. 1972) became the company directors, it closed down in 1972.
