Prohaska, Jaro(slav), b. Vienna, Jan. 24, 1891, d. Munich (Germany), Sept. 28, 1965, singer (bass-baritone). Initially an organist in Vienna, debut as a singer in 1920 (concert) and 1922 (stage). Performances mainly in Germany (Berlin 1932-1952, Bayreuth), but also in Salzburg (1949); 1947-1959 taught at the Berlin Conservatory (teacher of H. Prey).
