Porta Claudia - Pötschenpass (17/25)
Postl, Karl Pöstlingberg

Postleitzahlen

Postal Code, a system introduced in Austria on January 1, 1966 to streamline the distribution service and to fully automate the distribution of letters. The Austrian Postal Codes have four digits: the first digit is the area code (Vienna: 1, Lower Austria: 2 and 3, Upper Austria: 4, Salzburg.: 5, North Tirol and Vorarlberg: 6, Burgenland: 7, Styria: 8, Carinthia and East Tirol: 9), the second the district code, the third the routing code (by train or by car), and the last digit indicates the post office of destination, each post office having its own code number. In Vienna, however, the second and third digits of the postal code stand for the respective administrative district of the city.
