Philips Industrie GmbH, ÖsterreichischePhilips Industrie GmbH, Österreichische: The international Philips Electronics business group has been located in Austria since the Philips Radioröhren GmbH was established in Vienna in 1926. In 1997 Philips, a subsidiary of the Dutch Philips Electronics N. V., had around 6,580 employees in 12 Austrian plants. In Vienna, Philips develops and produces fax terminals, scanners, tape drives for video recorders, speaker systems for telecommunications; in Lebring (Styria) picture tubes for monitors; in Gratkorn (Styria) non-contact identification systems and in Klagenfurt domestic appliances. About 10% of the staff are employed in development and design. Exports make up 97 %.
