Pekny, Romuald, b. Vienna, July 1, 1920, d. Linz (Upper Austria), November 9, 2007, Kammerschauspieler. Début at the Schönbrunn Schloßtheater (palace theatre), afterwards engagements in Linz, Basle, Cologne and Munich, from 1963 at the Burgtheater; mainly classical roles (including Emperor Rudolf II in Grillparzer´s "Ein Bruderzwist in Habsburg", for which he received the Grillparzer Ring in 1981), also modern drama (Werner in Sartre´s "Huis clos", Salieri in Shaffer´s "Amadeus", for which he received the Kainz Medal in 1981); from the 1960s at the Salzburg Festival; film and TV work (Abraham a Sancta Clara sermons).
