Glück, also Branitz), b. Vienna, Dec. 30, 1814, d. Baden (Lower Austria), July 5, 1894, poet, narrative writer, essayist, translator, journalist. Came from a very poor family, earned her living first as a governess and companion, from 1850 was a freelance writer. Friendship with N. Lenau and A. Stifter, mentor of A. von Droste-Hülshoff, M. von Ebner-Eschenbach, F. von Saar and C. F. Meyer. Editions: Poems (selection and literary estate), ed. by M. v.
