Ospel, Anton JohannOspel, Anton Johann, b. Klösterle am Arlberg (Vorarlberg), June 2, 1677, d. Vienna, April 3, 1756, architect and military engineer. 1711-1721 Court architect for the Princes of Liechtenstein, amongst other things built the castles in Feldsberg (Valtice, Czech Republic) and Wilfersdorf (Lower Austria); 1722 made ordnance supervisor and captain of the city of Vienna. Established the Wiener Bürgerliches Zeughaus Am Hof (1731/32) and further palaces and residences in Vienna. Literature: A. Wilhelm, Der Vbg. Architekt A. J. O.
