Ortner, LauridsOrtner, Laurids, b. Linz (Upper Austria), May 26, 1941, architect; brother of Manfred Ortner. 1959-1965 studied architecture at the University of Technology in Vienna. 1967 founding member of the architects', designers', and artists' group Haus-Rucker-Co, from 1970 Atelier Haus-Rucker-Co with G. Zamp Kelp and his brother Manfred O. in Düsseldorf. 1971-1977 studio in New York, 1976-1987 head of the master class for visual design at the Art Academy in Linz. Founded in 1977 with H. Gsöllpointner the Austrian Institute for Visual Design in Linz, head of the institute until 1981. Since 1987 professor for architecture at the Staatliche Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Since 1987 office with Manfred O. in Düsseldorf, from 1990 in Vienna, since 1994 in Berlin. Numerous prizes.
