Ortner, Hermann HeinzOrtner, Hermann Heinz, b. Bad Kreuzen (Upper Austria), Nov. 14, 1895, d. Salzburg, Aug. 18, 1956, dramatist, scriptwriter, librettist, poet. Between 1929 and 1955 the most performed dramatist on Austrian stages; began in 1914 as an actor, 1926-1928 principal dramaturge at the Neue Wiener Bühne, afterwards freelance writer. Breakthrough in 1928 with "Tobias Wunderlich" (1929 at the Burgtheater); after the tragedy "Schuster Anton Hitt" (1932) turned to historical subjects.
