Oberranna: Crypt of the castle church




Oberranna Castle, Lower Austria, very well preserved castle located on a high mountain ridge in the municipality of Mühldorf, first documented mentions in 1114 and 1125, extensions in the 15th century and around 1560; castle church in Romanesque style with 2 transepts (rarely found in Austria) and unique crypt (around 1125): square hall with cross vaulting, remnants of Gothic frescoes from 1420 and 1500, altar from 1617.
