Oberkofler, Joseph Georg


Oberkofler, Joseph Georg, b. St. Johann i. Ahrntal (South Tyrol), April 17, 1889, d. Innsbruck (Tyrol), Nov. 12, 1962, studied law, narrative writer and poet. As a follower of the "Heimatkunst" movement (glorifying provincial rather than urban values in art) he wrote sagas on peasant life.


Works: Novels: Das Stierhorn, 1938; Der Bannwald, 1939; Die Flachsbraut, 1942. - Poetry: Triumph der Heimat, 1927; Nie stirbt das Land, 1937.
