Nußbaumer, Otto, b. Innsbruck (Tyrol), March 31, 1876, d. Salzburg, Jan. 5, 1930, physicist and inventor. 1904 accomplished the first wireless transmittal of music using a detector he had constructed himself (now on display in the Technical Museum in Vienna) at the department of physics at the University of Technology in Graz. This invention was not followed up in Austria but was successfully exploited by R. Fessenden and L. de Forest in the USA and by G. Marconi in Italy.
