Nürnberger ProzesseNuremberg Trials, trials conducted by an international military tribunal and American military courts to punish crimes committed by National Socialists. An international military tribunal consisting of 4 judges conducted the proceedings against the main German war criminals from November 14, 1945 to October 1, 1946. The Austrians A. Seyß-Inquart and E. Kaltenbrunner were among the twelve criminals sentenced to death. National Socialist organizations including the SS, SD (Sicherheitsdienst), Gestapo and the NSDAP leaders were declared to be criminal, while the government of the German Reich, the general staff, Oberkommando der Wehrmacht (Supreme Military Command) and SA (Storm Troopers) were acquitted.
