Niederösterreichische Tonkünstler Niederösterreichisches Tonkünstlerorchester, NTONiederösterreichische Tonkünstler (Niederösterreichisches Tonkünstlerorchester, NTO), orchestra of the Province of Lower Austria founded in 1946 as successor to the Vienna Tonkünstlerorchester, which had existed between 1907 and 1933, and the "Gausymphonieorchester" established in 1939 during the National Socialist era; conductors: K. Wöss, H. Walberg, G. Koslik, R. Heger, V. Andreae. Its repertoire comprises both standard orchestral works and contemporary music (often commissions works from contemporary composers). Literature: W.
