Neuwirth, GöstaNeuwirth, Gösta, b. Vienna, Jan. 6, 1937, composer; uncle of Olga Neuwirth. Studied under K. Schiske and at the University of Vienna (theatre studies and musicology), 1983-2001 professor at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin. Dealt with the works of G. Mahler and F. Schreker from a theoretical and compositorial point of view. Was particularly interested in the the temporal dimension of music. Numerous prizes. Works: Requiem, 1956; Hommage à Mahler, 1966; Der Garten der Pfade, die sich verzweigen, 1975; Streichquartett, 1976; Pisspott oder Pot of Pieces, 1973-1981; Eine wahre Geschichte, 1981 (chamber opera); 6 Gesänge nach Texten von M.
