Nepo, Ernst eigentlich E. NepomuckyNepo, Ernst (real name: E. Nepomucky), b. Dauba (Czech Republic), Oct. 17, 1895, d. Innsbruck (Tyrol), Aug. 26, 1971, prominent painter of New Objectivity. Taught by O. Strnad at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts in 1913/14. From 1918 lived in Innsbruck, important member of the "Mühlauer Kreis" circle of artists, from 1927 member of the Vienna Secession. 1934-1937 painter of stage sets for the Stadttheater in Innsbruck, until 1943 district manager of the Reichskammer Chamber of Fine Arts in Tyrol, after the war many public commissions for large-scale paintings and portraits.
